Magsaysay, Tabuk City reports developments since 2018

Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the collective efforts of the stakeholders including its barangay officials, Barangay Magsaysay in Tabuk City, Kalinga has seen rapid progress, receiving various awards and recognitions in the locality up to the regional level.


Under the administration of Captain Enrique Sagayo who assumed office in 2018, the barangay which covers an area of around 504 hectares with a population of about 4,921 has been implementing projects, resulting in its notable development.


In his interview with the Blue Board Multimedia, Sagayo conveyed that among the recent infrastructure development in the barangay are the P15 million Ubbog to Chico River Farm-to-Market Road, P10 million road improvement from Baduyen Street to Sitio San Vicente and Sitio San Felipe boundary to Baduyen Street, P4.5 million concreting of Ibañez Street, P2.9 million construction of Senior Citizen Building, and several road openings, fencing, and rip-rapping. Improvements were also done for the Day Care Center, Barangay Hall, and Multipurpose buildings.

Also, Sagayo reported that they were able to install streetlights on almost 90% of the roads in the barangay.

Magsaysay, a multi-awarded barangay


In 2018, Magsaysay received a P200,000 prize for being one of the regional winners of the cleanest and greenest barangay in the cordillera region. The following year, the barangay was awarded a half-million worth of material recovery facility.


“Maysa nga programa tayo ket daytoy implementation ti Solid Waste Management ta ti basura, isu ti maysa nga kadakkelan nga problema tayo nationwide dayta ngem dayta ti maysa nga tinututukan tayo so diay sanitation, isu garud tatta, iyim-impose tayo tatta, ipurpursige tayo ngay nga ipatungpal diay ordinansa tayo ti astray animals, rabies prevention and control isunga tatta ket agtiltiliw tayo iti aso su adda ti impounding tayo tatta dita baba,” Sagayo relayed.

Further, the barangay, through the captain’s leadership, is now a five-time “Best Performing Barangay” or Gangsa awardee of the city.


It is also a barangay at the forefront of keeping peace, order, and safety, health and sanitation, anti-drug campaign, and in encouraging its people to follow ordinances.


“Nu awan kayo, awan dagita nga nagun-od tayo”


Recognizing the significant role of his constituent to their success, Sagayo thanked them saying, “dagiti nga rewards wennu awards ket gapwanan tayo amin ta nu awan kayo, awan dagita nga nagun-od tayo.”

He noted that the cooperation of residents and other officials contributed to their overall accomplishments.


Captain Sagayo then encouraged the public to continue supporting the government programs, especially in project implementations, to maintain what they have so far achieved.
