Maine Mendoza, Arjo Atayde exchange ‘I do’ in Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines – A chapel in Baguio City played host to the wedding ceremony of globally renowned actor and Quezon City Rep. Juan Carlos "Arjo" C. Atayde and award-winning host Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza, popularly known as Maine Mendoza.

The two exchanged their “I do” at Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges Chapel on Friday, July 28, 2023 – a year after their engagement.

When the event was announced to the public, their fans recalled it was also on the same day in 2013 when the TV host-actress tweeted “Arjo cutie,” which, accordingly, was a manifestation of their romantic relationship.

Exactly five years after Maine’s ‘prophetic’ tweet, she met the actor for the first time at the story conference for the action comedy film Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles. In the film, Maine played PO1 Emily Fernandez - one of the main roles while Arjo played the supporting role as Andre Montenegro - the leader of a drug syndicate.

The two were frequently seen by the public later that year and many speculated they are dating but it was only in January 2019 that Arjo admitted that they are “exclusively dating.”

On July 28 last year, Arjo took to social media to share their engagement moments with a caption stating, “My turn, I will marry you cutie.”

In an intimate event, the couple sealed their love forever on the significant day despite rainy weather.

Among the celebrities and politicians spotted at the wedding were Kristine Hermosa, Ciara Sotto, Maja Salvador, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, Nina Girado, MJ Lastimosa, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal, House Speaker Martin Romualdez Senate President Miguel Zubiri, Enchong Dee, Joseph Marco, among others.
