MAKING BABIES: 15 babies born every day in Kalinga in 2024 – PSA

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Province of Kalinga was welcoming at least 15 newborn babies every day in 2024, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

 

The PSA report revealed that Kalinga registered 5,476 live births last year. This averages to about five babies being born every eight hours, or approximately 15 births per day. The figure represented a decline of 987 births or 15.27% compared to the 6,463 births recorded in 2023.

 

The province's Crude Birth Rate (CBR) for 2024, meanwhile, was calculated at 23.85, indicating that there were 24 live births per 1,000 people in Kalinga. The CBR measures the number of live births per 1,000 midyear population.

 

Among the registered births, Tabuk City had the highest number with 3,818, accounting for 69.72% of the total births in the province.

 

Following Tabuk is Pinukpuk with 505 births or 9.22 %; Tinglayan, 283 or 5.17%; Rizal, 280 or 5.11%; Balbalan, 224 or 4.09%; Lubuagan, 215 or 3.93%; Tanudan, 80 or 1.46%; and Pasil with 71 births or 1.30%.

 

As for the number of births per month, the agency noted that the month of May registered the highest births with 543 or 9.92% of the total births. It is followed by April with 539 births (9.84%); January, 513 or 9.37%; September, 489 or 8.93%; July, 473 births or 8.64%; October and November, 458 births each or 8.36 %; August, 440 or 8.04%; June, 429 births or 7.83%; March, 392 births or 7.16%; December, 382 or 6.98%; and February with 360 or 6.57%.
