Mall-like barangay Hall inaugurated in Baguio City

Updated: May 9, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – The barangay hall in Baguio City that recently went viral for its huge and modern design and was compared to a mall, was inaugurated on May 4, 2022.

The modernized Bakakeng Central Hall captivated the attention of the netizens on Facebook, drawing fascination online with its exterior window wall, tiled flooring, glass doors, and spacious rooms. The building’s basketball court, evacuation center, daycare center, senior citizens, and other rooms have also left the netizens enthralled.

According to the Baguio City Public Information Office, Mayor Benjamin Magalong during the building’s ribbon cutting and unveiling ceremonies mentioned that Senator Ronald Dela Rosa assisted him in facilitating funds for the P56-million structure, which will serve as the standard for similar projects in Baguio.

The City Mayor recounted that many have expressed skepticism when he first opened the idea of a modernized barangay hall. But more than a year later, the idea has turned into a reality with the completion of the Bakakeng Central Hall.

The Bakakeng Central barangay hall is not going to be the first and last multi-purpose hall with modernized features to be erected in Baguio City, City Buildings and Architecture Officer, Architech Johnny Degay informed.

He said that they targeted to finish the buildings of barangays Quirino Hill and Irisan on May and later this year.

The ribbon cutting and unveiling ceremonies of the Bakakeng Central Hall was attended by Baguio Representative Mark Go, Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, and other city councilors and barangay officials. It was also graced by Senator Bato’s staff, Gen. Ramon Parugganan who represented him during the event.
