Mamba directs Cagayan LGUs to restrict travels to Tugueguerao City

Tugueguerao City, Cagayan – Governor Manuel Mamba ordered Local Government Units in Cagayan to implement stricter travel restrictions to individuals going in out of Tugueguerao City, according to Cagayan PIO.

The mandate was made as the sole city of the province failed to control the number of individuals getting the virus despite locking down the area for 10 days under Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Municipal health officers and police chiefs in Cagayan municipalities are then ordered by the governor to become the frontline in implementing said order.

Cagayan PIO said that only essential workers and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) are allowed to enter and exit in Tugueguerao City, and if not part of the aforementioned groups, they should present necessary documents such as travel documents and negative result of swab test.

The governor is appealing to the public for their consideration on said matter as this is one of the measures in controlling further transmission of said virus in the city.

Meantime, City Mayor Jefferson Soriano declared a five-day extension of the ECQ quarantine status in Tugueguerao.

In a statement made by City Health Officer, Dr. James Guzman via PIO Cagayan, he said the high number of transmission in workplaces has contributed to the extension of the ECQ status. Data showed that almost 94 individuals got the virus in offices.

Another reason pointed out by Guzman is the result the Aggressive Community Testing conducted in the city where 65 individuals were found to be positive of the Covid-19 virus

To date, the city has the most number of active cases in the entire province having a total number of 299.
