Mamba orders police to penalize Covid-19 protocol violators

Cagayan, Philippines – Governor Manuel Mamba on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, ordered the law enforcers to immediately penalize individuals who will be caught violating minimum health standard protocols based on their local ordinances.

He said there is already no need to warn violators upon apprehension.

Mamba directed said order to Cagayan Police Provincial Office Provincial Director PCOL. Ariel N. Quilang and all the chief of police in said province.

Cagayan Provincial Information Office (PIO) in a report states that the order emanated from the increase of active cases in the province that rose to 356 on March 15, 2020. The rise in cases is attributed to the non-compliance of the public to minimum health standard protocols, the PIO reports.

The governor through Cagayan PIO has stated that the strict implementation of health protocols is necessary as the national government is gearing towards re-opening the economy of the country which has been greatly affected by the pandemic.

Large number of returning residents, he said, is also expected specially that travel restrictions has been relaxed.

Cagayan, as of this writing, has 310 COVID 19 active cases.
