Man, 2 brothers in Cagayan jailed for incest rape

From 2019 to 2022, 851 incest cases across the country were recorded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, raising alarm among law enforcers and concerned agency members.

Just recently, a 34-year-old man and his two brothers were arrested and charged with incest rape for sexually molesting two minor stepdaughters in Baggao, Cagayan.

The brothers whose names were withheld by authorities began raping one of the victims in 2014 when she was still 9 years old. The molestation continued until 2016, Deputy Chief of Baggao police, PCapt. Jackelyn Urian said.

The mother of the minor victim discovered her daughter’s situation but chose to keep mum due to fear and shame. She instead decided to bring her child outside the region and live there.

Her decision to remain silent changed upon learning last year that her partner and his brothers aged 20 and 29 are also sexually abusing their 6-year-old daughter since 2017.

The victims’ mother sought help from the local government where they are residing. The authorities then coordinated with Baggao municipal unit, Baggao PNP and DSWD, resulting in the arrest of the three brothers.

The minor victims are now at a haven or residential care facility outside Cagayan Valley.

Identities of those involved and other details were hidden for security purposes.
