Man attacks retired police officer for prohibiting gambling at cousin’s wake  

Baguio City, Philippines – A man in Baguio City is now facing charges for injuring a retired police officer over his denied request.


The incident occurred on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Upper Pinget, Baguio City.


Police reports obtained by local media near the area disclosed that the man, whose identity is withheld, asked for permission from the retired police to hold gambling at his cousin’s wake.


However, his request was denied by the retired police, resulting in him hitting the victim in the head with a hard object.


As relayed by the victim, the suspect also attempted to do the same thing to his brother. Luckily, he was able to stop him.


Upon notification, authorities proceeded to the crime scene and apprehended the suspect on the same day.


He is now under the custody of Baguio City Police Station for proper documentation.


The victim, meanwhile, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital and is determined to file a Less Serious Physical Injury case against the accused.
