Man attending wake in Bauko, Mt. Province killed in landslide

Mt. Province, Philippines – A 59-year-old man attending wake was killed when a landslide hit Sitio Boga, Monamon Sur, Bauko, Mt. Province at around 10 AM this Thursday morning, July 28, 2022.


The landslide ensued following the major earthquake that jolted parts of Northern Luzon on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as a certain Andres Sagayo, a resident of Pactil, Monamon Sur, Bauko.


Mt. Province Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, in a press release, said the victim and his relatives were attending the wake of his mother-in-law when the incident transpired.


Sagayo was immediately rescued but was declared dead on arrival at the Lutheran Hospital in Abatan, Buguias.


This is the first death recorded in the province after the temblor and the 5th in Cordillera region.


The MDRRMO alerted the community to be vigilant against disasters.
