Ifugao, Philippines – A suspected drug pusher was declared dead at the hospital following an armed encounter with the anti-narcotic cops in Lagawe, Ifugao on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

On said date, the operatives launched a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tungngod. However, the operation did not go as planned for the police after one of the two suspects noticed their cover and opened fire at them.

The Police Regional Office CAR reported that one of the arresting officers was shot, but was protected by his ballistic vest. This prompted the police to return fire and chase the suspects, who attempted to evade arrest.

The cops were able to catch the suspected drug pushers, and they found that one was shot. The injured suspect was rushed to the Ifugao General Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician of the medical facility.

A search of the suspects’ vehicle, meantime, resulted in the recovery of at least 15 grams of suspected shabu. Apart from the contraband which was estimated to be worth P102,000, the police discovered four rounds of ammunition, one spent .22 caliber shell and a hand grenade.

The uninjured suspect who was not named by the police along with the pieces of evidence was brought to police custody after an onsite inventory of the items taken from their vehicle. PRO CAR said that he will be charged with violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
