Man from Sadanga, Mt. Province buried alive

Mt. Province, Philippines – Mt. Province mourns over the death of a 38-year-old man from Betwagan, Sadanga.


The victim was just having coffee inside a shanty around 4:20 on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, at Sitio Pakkil, Caluttit, Bontoc when a massive landslide triggered by Super Typhoon Egay occurred, burying him alive.


His then companion Julio Farongkay happened to be outside thus, surviving the incident.

Upon his retrieval, responding personnel from 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of Mt. Province rushed the victim to Bontoc General Hospital for medical attention but was declared dead at around 5:45 p.m.


The victim was identified as Mangintee Sagandoy, married, a resident of Betwagan but was temporarily staying at the said area.


As of 12 noon this Thursday, a total of 145 families or 425 individuals in the province were affected by the typhoon.
