Man in Baggao, Cagayan who raped niece arrested

Baggao, Cagayan − A man who was accused of raping his teenager niece was finally brought to police custody and shall be facing trial after his arrest warrant was served this October 12 in Sitio Culidag, Barangay Asinga-Via, Baggao.

Cagayan Police Provincial Office reported that the suspect hidden under the name of Gardo, 33, married, and a resident of Liwan Norte, Enrile, has a warrant of arrest for rape with no recommended bail.

The case was filed against Gardo after he allegedly raped his 13-year-old niece, Mona.

The victim told police that Gardo sexually abused her on October 3, 2020, after the latter invited her to go to the rice field to get some wood. She added that the incident was followed by another after 4 days when her uncle fetched her because she was going to clean his boss’ house.

However, instead of bringing the victim to his boss's house, the suspect brought her to the rice field where then he again sexually abused her.

The incidents reached the police in Enrile on March 13, 2021, after the victim was accompanied by her father. At that time, Gardo allegedly attempted to rape the victim again.

On September 21, the court issued Gardo’s warrant of arrest and on October 12 the suspect was arrested. Gardo was brought to Baggao Police Station for documentation and proper disposition prior to his turn over to the court.
