Man in Cauayan City gets police clearance, arrested

Isabela, Philippines – A man who went to a police station in Cauayan City to get a police clearance ended up getting arrested by the authorities on October 5, 2022.

The suspect identified as a certain Arnold Camaddu Verona, 39, as reported by 98.5 i-FM Cauayan, went to Cauayan City Police Station as he needed clearance.

It is believed he thought the police in Cauayan do not have records of all crimes in the country and that he can get clearance as he does not have a bad record in the said City.

The man, who appears to have forgotten a misdeed, was later put into custody after the police saw his records and verified that a complaint was lodged against him.

Verona had a warrant of arrest issued under his name on December 18, 2020, in Valenzuela City for Qualified Theft.

Verona, however, was released temporarily after paying his P24,000 recommended bail.

It can be recalled that, unlike before, the PNP already uses a centralized system wherein records from different places in the country have been consolidated into a single unified database. This makes checking and verifying criminal records easier.
