Man in Isabela kills stepdad, stabs younger brother over arm wrestling

Santiago City, Isabela – A 27-year-old man killed his stepfather and stabbed his younger brother in Barangay Rizal, Santiago City, Isabela after he was defeated in an arm wrestling match.

Police identified the stepfather as Roel Fabro Solomon, 46, and the younger brother as JR Solomon, 15. Both are residents of said barangay.

The suspect was said to be Jeffrey Pusilero, a resident of San Antonio, Ramon, Isabela.

Police reported on November 10, 2022, through Bombo Radyo Cauayan, that the victims and the suspect attended a birthday party in barangay Rizal and when drunk, the suspect and the younger Solomon allegedly challenged each other to a game of arm wrestling.

Pusilero lost three times to his 15-year-old brother.

The younger Solomon said to his stepbrother that he can now easily defeat him now that he has grown, unlike when he was younger.

This angered the suspect who then challenged his younger stepbrother to a fistfight.

When the father saw his children having a fight, he immediately intervened to separate them.

Police continued that when Pusilero and the younger Solomon were already separated, the suspect repeatedly stabbed his stepfather with a knife.

The younger brother tried to flee, but the suspect was able to catch and stab him.

The victims were immediately brought to the hospital, but the father was declared dead on arrival while the young Solomon is in critical condition.

Meantime, the suspect who was caught through the launched hot pursuit operation is now under the custody of said police station.

It was later revealed that Pusilero and his stepfather had an argument before attending the birthday party. The suspect accordingly stole the victim’s pet bird.
