Man in Sta. Marcela hacks sister to death due to family problems

Sta. Marcela, Apayao – A hacking incident that led to the death of a woman in Sta. Marcela was caused by family problems, according to authorities.

The suspect unnamed is the older brother of the victim.

Accordingly, while having a drinking session with his companions at 11 a.m. on Friday at the house of the victim, the siblings had a heated argument due to underlying family issue.

As claimed by some witnesses, the victim told the suspect in their dialect that instead of arguing with her, her brother should hack her instead.

Drunk and enraged, the suspect grabbed a long bolo and hacked his younger sister.

The victim sustained severe wounds on the lower part of her left underarm.

She was later ferried at the Santa Marcela District Hospital for immediate medication but did not survive.

The murder weapon was recovered by responding authorities at the crime scene.

The suspect, meantime, was arrested and is now in police custody, pending the preparation of documents for immediate referral of the case to the Provincial Prosecution Service-Apayao.
