Man in Tabuk asks public to help his wife survive battle against lupus and stroke

Updated: Nov 26, 2022

A man in Tabuk City takes his plea to social media asking for kind hearted people to help him save his wife who is currently suffering from lupus and from the affliction of stroke.

Lupus Fighters America describes Lupus as “a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that your immune system — the body system that usually fights infections — attacks healthy tissue instead.”

In the Philippines the disease affects about 50 to 100 people in 100,000.

Reynaldo Tongdo Banganan, the husband of Lupus patient and stroke victim Judith Abalnog Sagban, said his wife was diagnosed with Lupus on June 23, 2022. Judith also suffered stroke. Further, she has to undergo a gallstone operation.

Judith’s story was first published on Guru Press Cordillera on May 26, 2022. Months later, her condition has not gotten any better.

Reynaldo related that they have had to stay in Baguio City since July for Judith’s medication.

While in Baguio, Reynaldo said his wife became uneasy and unable to sleep on the night of August 13. That time, his wife refused to be brought to the hospital and assured him she was okay.

However, while asleep, Reynaldo was awakened by Judith’s loud snores. He tried to wake her up but she remained unconscious. Reynaldo and his relatives immediately rushed Judith to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for observation. The following day, they were told Judith had to undergo immediate surgery due to intracerebral hemorrhage or bleeding into the brain tissue.

Judith has been intubated and is still at the hospital.

Reynaldo said his family’s savings and resources have already been used for Judith’s hospitalizations since 2019. They have nothing left, and they are asking for kind-hearted people to help them for the medical fees.

Any amount shall be greatly appreciated by the family.
