Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 49-year-old man suspected of doing illegal drug business evaded imminent arrest and escaped just before anti-narcotic cops arrived at his house.

The Tabuk City police operatives together with other units, on February 14, went to Lacnog to implement two search warrants addressed to a 49-year-old farmer. However, just before the cops reached the address of the suspect, the latter immediately left his home upon noticing the approaching vehicles.

The police withheld the identity of the suspect.

Armed with the two search warrants and accompanied by witnesses, the operatives proceeded with the search.

Pieces of evidence recovered from the operation, according to the PNP Tabuk, include 11 sachets of suspected shabu estimated to be worth P68,000. There were also a .9MM Norinco pistol loaded with live ammunition, two boxes of Cal. 22 containing 56 live ammunition, and some drug paraphernalia.

All of these items were inventoried onsite in the presence of witnesses from the media, DOJ, and barangay before they were taken to the Tabuk City Police Station.

The 49-year-old suspect will be facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
