Man nabbed for stealing cellphones in Tabuk City



Tabuk City, Kalinga – Authorities arrested a man for allegedly stealing two cellphones, following the complaint of a victim from Sitio Alinanag, Callaccad, Tabuk City, on Nov. 21.


Police reports that the First Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st KPMFC) at a checkpoint in Barangay Callagdao, Tabuk City arrested the suspect who introduced himself as Arljay Anniban Basinag, 23, male, a resident of Binansagan, Bayaw, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.


In an initial investigation, the victim identified as Josie Chano Picat, 33, married and a resident of Binal-on of Sitio Alinanag, Calaccad, this city, reported that the incident happened at around 11:50 a.m. when she briefly left her stall at the back of their house.

The report states that when the victim returned, she saw a man rushing out of her stall. She tried to chase the suspect, but the man rode a motorcycle and sped off towards Barangay Cudal.


Upon checking her stall, she discovered that a HUAWEI Tablet and a VIVO Y31 phone she was charging, worth more than P25, 200, and P18, 000 respectively, were no longer in sight.


The victim immediately went to the 1st KPMFC Cudal QCP to report the incident, prompting the police to call their companion stationed at Callagdao, Tabuk City to conduct a police checkpoint resulting in the immediate arrest of the suspect.


The suspect, aboard a red and black Honda 155 with Plate Number BT 637, was personally identified by the victim, along with the recovered tablet and cellular phone she recognized as her personal belongings.


The suspect was brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medico-legal examination. A case against him is also being prepared.
