Man who joined drinking spree before attending grandfather's wake dies in motorcycle crash

Tuao, Cagayan – If there is a rule a driver should be reminded of frequently, it is the ‘don’t drive when you are drunk’ rule.

Tuao police have always been reminding people of this on their Facebook page, but in an unfortunate turn of events, a man from said area who first joined a drinking spree before driving to a funeral was killed in a road accident.

The incident transpired on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Tuao, Cagayan.

Based on a police investigation, the victim, identified as Reymark Arias, 23, had a drinking spree with his cousin on said day.

When he was already intoxicated, Arias decided to attend his grandfather’s funeral and rode his motorcycle.

On his way, the victim’s vehicle allegedly crashed into a barricade on the side of the road, particularly in front of Itawes National Agricultural and Technical School (INATS) High School in Bagumbayan.

The victim sustained severe injuries to various parts of his body due to the incident. Police said the victim was not wearing a helmet when the accident transpired.

The responding authorities rushed him to a hospital in the municipality, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
