‘Manchachatong… testament to resilience and united spirit of iBalbalans’ – Gov. Edduba

Balbalan, Kalinga – Governor James Edduba, during the 17th Manchachatong on March 21, 2025, laude the iBalbalans for the successful holding of their founding anniversary and the 17th Manchatchatong Festival.

 

Edubba likewise underscored the spirit of the festival as a symbol of togetherness and resilience of the iBalbalans. 

 

Addressing the ‘umili’ and visitors of the event, Edduba mentioned that the importance of the values being displayed by the constituents in Balbalan which were handed down from their ancestors. This, he said, is likewise the essence of the town’s festival.

 

“The Manchatchatong Festival is not only a celebration of our past but also a testament to the resilience and united spirit of our people. A time to commemorate our ancestors’ wisdom and celebrate the values that have been passed down with thru generation,” he said.

 

As the celebration unfolded, Edduba took the chance to honor the shared heritage and deep-rooted ties that unite the people of Balalan. He thanked them for upholding and showcasing the best of the municipality and the province’s culture and talent as a whole.

 

“As we enjoy the festivity, whether thru the vibrant street dances, the delicious food or the artistry of our local crafts, let us remember that the art of this festival lies in our shared experiences and our deep connection to one another. It is a reminder that in the face of challenges, we can always find strength in unity,” he expressed.

 

Edduba wrapped up his message by lauding the dedication, cooperation, and support of the iBalbalans and the local leaders led by Mayor Almar Malannag in planning and executing the activities for this year’s Manchachatong Festival.
