Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga Police are now conducting an investigation to identify a marijuana runner who was able to escape authorities on Monday, July 1.

The suspect yet to be identified left at the roadside the marijuana he was carrying hidden inside a biscuit pail along with the motorcycle he used when he was chased by police.

The Marijuana runner was first flagged down at the police checkpoint in Dangoy, Lubuagan but sped up and avoided being checked by authorities.

This resulted in a chase where the suspect chose to leave his motorcycle and the contraband on the road at Sitio Pokcha, Cagaluan, Pasil to buy him time to escape.

When the police checked the items left in a biscuit pail, dried marijuana leaves and stalks wrapped in transparent plastic were found.

Police said the contraband weighed 10,000 grams with a market value of P1,200,000.

Recovered pieces of evidence with the suspected contraband were a one-unit red Rusi 175 macho motorcycle with a key, a biscuit pail, a blue bag pack, and a pair of yellow beach walk slippers.

Said items were already brought to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office for documentation and proper disposition.
