Mayor Dagadag encourages Tanudan youth to avail free combative sports training

Tanudan, Kalinga – Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag encourages youth in Tanudan who are interested in combative sports to keep honing their skills as the LGU continues to provide free training.

Mayor Dagadag made this statement after 15 young athletes collected a total of 4 gold medals, 6 silver, and 5 bronze during the 4th Muay Thai National Championships at the Subic Bay Gymnasium in Zambales on November 29 – December 3, 2022.

The mayor acknowledged the passion and potential of these athletes and that despite having no experience in combative sports, they were able to bring home medals and honor to Tanudan.

“Congratulations kadagitoy nga annak, karkaru ta uray nu first time da maki-attend iti national competition ket adu latta iti medals nga naiyawid da,” he conveyed.

It can be recalled that the LGU Tanudan, through the initiative of Dagadag, hired Coach Daniel Gumilao in June this year to go around the different schools in Tanudan to train the young ones on combative sports.

This program was supported by the mayor in order to provide more avenues where the youth could shine and develop their skills. It is likewise to teach them self-discipline, self-defense, and to keep them occupied and away from the bad influences in the society.

Apart from combative sports, Mayor Dagadag is also open to provide free training in other sports for as long as there is a coach and instructor who will express their intent to teach the young ones in Tanudan.
