Mayor Dagadag recognizes the elderly in Tanudan for wisdom and contribution in keeping their culture alive

Tanudan, Kalinga – During the Christmas Holidays, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag took time to recognize the elderly in town of their wisdom and their contributions in keeping the culture in Tanudan alive.

While the demise of culture has been seen in many places owing to modernization and technology, the town is one that is holding on to preservation of culture and tradition by involving the elderly generation to share their knowledge to the young and by helping sustain peace and order through the use of local wisdom.

The local chief executive underscored the contributions of the elderly during the Christmas Program which the Municipal LGU initiated for senior citizens on December 27 in Banagao, Poblacion.

The event aimed at gathering the older people to celebrate them and to provide them an avenue to bond together.

In his message, Dagadag thanked the senior citizens for their effort in preserving the culture and heritage of the municipality and for not holding back their learnings through their experiences.

“Dakayu nga iina ken aama mi ti ili ket very important kayo ti ili tayo ta adda kayo nga mangisuro kadagiti kaugalian ken pagsayaatan ti ili, ta amu tayo met amin nga ti kayat ko ket masapul peaceful iti ili tayo,” he said.

Dagadag also recognized the elderlies’ efforts in teaching the younger generations to have fear of God which keep them from doing unwanted things.

“Agpaspasalamat kami nga a-annak yu ta sinurwan yu da kami nga agbuteng iti Apo, tapnu saan mi maar-aramid dagiti saan na nga pagragsakan ken pagayatan. Nu man makabasol ta ket agpakawan ta tapos saan tan nga ul-uliten diay nga nagbasulan,” he said.

Mayor Dagadag also disclosed that the Municipal LGU the holding of the Christmas program solely for the senior citizens in Tanudan shall become an annual event.
