Mayor Dagadag’s reminder to parents in Tanudan: ‘Teach kids to pray, send them to school’

Tanudan, Kalinga – Teaching children to pray and sending them to school are the two things Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag emphasized and told parents in Tanudan not to neglect.

Dagadag made the statement during the Municipal Children’s Month culminating activity held at the Davidson Hotel on November 26, 2024.

Speaking before parents and young children, Dagadag underscored that when kids are closer to God, they would fear doing wrong and prohibited things that could destroy their future.

“Nu am-ammu da ni Apo Diyos, mabuteng da nga agaramid iti madi. Kumpleto rekado diay nga nu namati ta iti Apo Diyos, adda idiay amine nga bawal – bawal iti agtakaw, bawal agaramid iti madi, bawal iti pumatay,” he said.

Apart from teaching them to pray, parents should make sure to send their kids to school, Dagadag added, stating that education is an important stepping stone in having a better quality of life.

As for the children, the local chief executive told them to remember the sacrifices parents go through to protect them and to ensure their brighter future.

“Dagitoy ubbing tayo tatta, ammu yu iti rigat iti ina kada ama, agtrabaho da nga nalaing tapnu kasta ket mapauskwela da dakayo, maikkan dakayo iti biyag nga napintas tapnu iti kasta napintas tu iti pagbanbanagan yu,” he said.

He further said that parents actually do not expect something monetary in return for their hard work from their kids. A simple hug and kind words would give them the additional boost and strength to keep going. This is why the mayor encouraged the kids to greet and embrace their parents whenever they come home from a long day of work.
