Mayor Dickpus encourages supporters of ‘politikos’ in Lubuagan to avoid fighting

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus told supporters of political candidates to avoid mudslinging and bickering against each other, citing that all the aspirants for elective posts in the municipality are united and want to ensure a peaceful election on May 9.

During the Unity Walk and Signing of Peace Covenant on March 30 in Poblacion Lubuagan, Dickpus conveyed that the event attested that the political candidates in Lubuagan indeed desire a peaceful and orderly poll.

“Iti addaan tayo tatta ket ipakita tayo iti panagkakaysa tanu makita dagiti supporters tayo,” she said in Lubuagen but was translated in Ilokano.

Dickpus then appealed to the candidates to remind their supporters to avoid quarrels.

“Ket sa pay kuma ta dawdawatek met kada kayo a mismo a kandidato ta kanayon tayo a bagbaga-an dagiti kadwa tayo ta awan kuma iti agsisinnungbat ta baka adda iti madi a sungbat iti maysa,” Dickpus said.

Dickpus explained that sometimes supporters naturally come to the defense of their political bets when they hear a negative remark about them from other people who are supporting other candidates.

“Dagitoy a supporters tayo bagaan tayo tanu maminsan ket isuda iti masaktan or mangisakit [ken datayo]. Ket adda tayo a nakaisem nga agsasao ket dagita kakadwa tayo a supporters ket isuda ti medyo madi iti rikna da,” she explained.

18 candidates vying for the different political posts in Lubuagan signed the peace covenant during the event. There was only one candidate who wasn’t able to attend the event due to hospitalization.
