Mayor Estrañero tells emulate Rizal, write about good things on Facebook

Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the commemoration of the 124th death anniversary of Jose Rizal at the City Hall this December 30, Mayor Darwin Estrañero tells public to use their hands to write something good on Facebook and not to malign their fellow to commemorate and emulate Rizal’s good works.

“Ket tatta nga modern times, usaren tayo kuma met dagitoy ramay tayo nga agisurat iti nasayaat ijay Facebook. Haan nga mangperdi iti padam nga tao, haan aya? Ta isu garud iti adda an tayo tatta, remembering the great works of Rizal, nu kasanu, otherwise we should not be here celebrating or commemorating the death of Jose Rizal who sacrificed himself just for his fellowmen,” he said during his message.

“Sometimes, tatta ngarud nga modern times, in the guise of public opinion, we write something about a person but deep inside is to malign the integrity of ... person,” he further said.

Estrañero pointed that a way to remember the national hero who used his hands to free the Philippines from its subjugators is by following his examples. He added that this day he encourages each and everyone to reflect and ask themselves if what they are doing is in consonance with the works of Rizal.

“... look deep inside of ourselves of what we are doing, is it in consonance or is it like the works of Jose Rizal? Dagitoy ngata iti araramiden tayo, if we believe in Jose Rizal that he is our national hero, then we should emulate him, we should follow his works as our national hero,” he said.

Moreover, the City Mayor also noted that this Christmas season is, “a time for us to renew ourselves into a better person” and not just a mere occasion of socializing, gift giving, and others. Thus, the works of Rizal were written indeed to free us from the tyranny of oppression.

Estrañero under fire

Mayor Estrañero has been under fire since allegations of corruption were thrown at him by critics and after complaints have been filed against him at the Office of the Ombudsman regarding his use of public funds.

Vice-Mayor Dao-as alone has filed several graft and corruption as well as administrative charges.

In July and in November 2020, he filed cyber libel complaints against his critics which drew more discussions on Facebook adding fuel to the social debates on the allegations.
