Mayor Gumilab assures support to PNP’s revitalized KASIMBAYANAN program

Updated: Nov 18, 2022

Tinglayan, Kalinga – With the launching of the revitalized Kapulisan, Simbahan, Pamayanan (KASIMBAYANAN) program of the Philippine National Police on October 26 in Tinglayan, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab who graced the event assured his full support for the program implementation.

"Peace is the dream of every living soul and peace is the business of everybody,” said the mayor during a privileged speech, stating his assurance that he will fully support the implementation and mobilization of the program in the municipality.

The mayor added the program is an acknowledgment that there is a need for active partnership and cooperation among community sectors and individuals in the attainment of peace.

He envisioned the program to be effective in the implementation of laws and in the maintenance of peace and order as it is inclusive and it encapsulates all sectors of society.

“This Kasimbayanan Program of PNP envisions a more inclusive law enforcement strategy of the PNP as it incorporates the Church in its sphere. It values the needs of the church as a crucial partner in law enforcement since the church has a moral ascendancy to its followers,” Gumilab said.

He added the church also enforces discipline to its members while they preach the gospels and the commandments of God which are also the source of most laws.

If it will be backed by various sectors in the municipality and will be implemented well, this will ensure the attainment of a more peaceful, orderly, and progressive Tinglayan.

The program involves multi-sectoral organizations and communities in nation-building efforts and the pursuit of a more holistic and long-lasting state of peace and security in the community.

Apart from Gumilab, representatives of the faith-based organization, municipal and barangay officials, and other stakeholders also expressed their support for the program through their messages of commitment.

Faith-based representatives who attended the event include St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Roman Catholic represented by Fr. Teodoro Pic-it Jr, Episcopal Church represented by Rev. Christina Fagkas, Northern Luzon Presbyterian Church represented by Rev. Clemente Pagtan Sr., Seventh Day Adventist Church represented by Pastor Harlie Domingo, Tribal Covenant of Christ Ambassador represented by Pastor George Banag, Free Believers represented by Pastor Orlando Mayam-o.

For the youth sector, it was represented by the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo organization through one of its leaders - Ms. Annie Suyam.

The presentation of KASIMBAYANAN AVP, signing of the pledge of commitment and Memorandum of Understanding, and ceremonial pinning of KASIMBAYANAN PNP buttons were likewise conducted during the event.
