Mayor Gumilab of Tinglayan joins Kalinga officials, agencies in rallying for Cordillera Autonomy


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Mayor Sacrament Gumilab is one with the Kalinga officials and Cordilleran lawmakers pushing for a Cordillera Autonomous Region.


On Monday, October 17, the local chief executive of Tinglayan joined the Cordillera Autonomy Regional Summit and Launching of Signature Campaign along with other officials of the province to show support on the initiative of pushing for the autonomy bill to become a priority under the Marcos Administration.

In a privilege speech, Gumilab stressed the constitution could have not included in one of its provision the quest for autonomous Region in Cordillera if it is not for the welfare or common good of the people of the Cordillera.


He added leaders are pushing for said pursuit for the betterment of the province and the region.


The local chief executive has been vocal since the beginning in the pursuit for autonomy, as he, is also one of the local leaders in the province who have been appealing to fellow Cordilleran leaders to strengthen their solidarity and strive harder in taking necessary actions to achieve autonomy.


During the event, he encouraged students to help in the campaign for autonomy by educating their communities on the positive impact of an autonomous region and support the initiative by signing in the manifesto for the ARC (Autonomous Region of the Cordillera).


The mayor expressed his felicitation to Kalinga State University for their commendable initiative through the leadership of President Eduardo Bagtang and its faculty members.
