Mayor Gumilab underscores unity and support to Kalinga as province celebrates 30th Anniv. and 6th Bodong Fest

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The annual Bodong Festival is among the best times to unite and show support to our province, Kalinga, says Mayor Sacrament Gumilab as Tinglayan readies their part in the said province-wide celebration.

Bodong fest and Kalinga Day, held in February of every year, are the biggest events every iKalinga looks forward to, drawing thousands of visitors, packed with various programs, performances, and activities.

As the month of February is fast approaching, all hands are on deck as all LGUs and towns gear up for the 6th Bodong Festival, the biggest celebration of Kalinga’s culture and heritage. Alongside the festivity is the commemoration of Kalinga’s 30th Founding Anniversary.

For their part, Mayor Gumilab said they have been coordinating and assembling groups for the different activities requiring participation of townspeople of every municipality, these include civic parades, traditional dance performances, and other cultural and social events.

“Nu anya man dagiti events iti Kalinga Day and Bodong Festival ket i-prepare mi met iti taga Tinglayan tapnu iti kasta ket ipakita da met iti kaya da iti Kalinga and then daytoy met lang iti gundaway nga maki-participate ti Tinglayan iti Kalinga tapnu ipakita da met iti support da iti province tayo,” Gumilab said.

To the participants from Tinglayan, Gumilab wishes them good luck and that he assured them that the Municipal Local Government Unit of Tinglayan will provided the needed support.

“Best of luck kanyada, ipapati da. Anyway, adda iti LGU nga naka-support kanyada,” he said. 

It could be recalled that Tinglayan has been always committed to showing support to the province. A testament to this was their cooperation during the historic ‘Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu’n Chi Banga’ which earned the province the Guinness Book of World Record. At the time, Tinglayan was awarded by the province for having the largest gong players and banga dancers, with mayor Gumilab being the lone mayor who performed in the event.
