Mayor Magalong assures aid to victims of structural fire in Baguio City

Baguio City, Philippines - Just after heavy rains brought by Typhoon “Nika”, a structural fire broke out along  Upper Atok Trail, Baguio City in the early hours of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, affecting a business establishment.

 

The members of the Bureau of Fire Protection - Baguio responded promptly and declared fire out at 7:10 a.m.

 

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, following the incident, proceeded to the area and assessed the situation, assuring the affected families/individuals of assistance.

 

Magalong lauded the BFP, police, and other volunteers who worked together to extinguish the fire and prevent it from creating a conflagration.

 

"I warmly express my gratitude to our firefighters, police officers, the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), John Hay, Sunshine, water delivery trucks, barangay officials, and all the volunteers who immediately responded to put out the fire," he stated when interviewed by the City's Information Office.

 

The Mayor added that the CLGU has already initiated its Social Welfare and Development Office to get in touch with the affected families for the assessment and provision of aid.

 

At present, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blaze and where it started.
