Balbalan, Kalinga - The Municipal Mayor of Balbalan, Almar Malannag, expressed gratefulness to the collective efforts of his fellow officials and constituents with the success of the first lighting of Christmas lights and lanterns in the municipality.

This was the highlight of the mayor’s speech as they welcomed the yuletide season in Balbalan through the ‘Pasilaw’ event of the local government unit last Thursday, December 1.

In his speech, Malannag acknowledged the organizer of said event, particularly the Tourism Office and other government employees for their effort in preparing for the event including the contested activities and various performances.

Mayor Malannag said the activity was conceptualized in November which challenged them to organize the event with a short period of preparation.

However, with the collective efforts of all the municipal Offices and their staff, the dream of conducting ‘Pasilaw’ in the municipality came to reality.

He expressed his warmest gratitude to the legislative members of the Municipal Government who supported the allocation of funds utilized in the event.

The mayor also applauded the participants of the hand-held lantern parade and the lantern-making contest who showcased their exemplary and artistic talents.

Their unique talents, he said, are one of the aspects motivating them and inspiring them as leaders in the municipality to continue providing programs that could also develop the skills and talents of their constituents.

As they welcome the yuletide season, Malannag, meantime urged the Balbalan people to continue supporting the current administration for more developments in the municipality.

Additionally, he promised that they will be allotting more funding to improve the event next year.

During the simultaneous lighting, the people of Balbalan cannot hide the excitement on their faces while witnessing the event and fireworks display at the municipal hall at around 7:30 on the evening of December 1.
