Pasil, Kalinga – With the recent conversion of Cagaluan, Pasil Provincial Road into national highway, Municipal Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. expressed confidence that the accessibility and road quality will be improved.

This will result into more development in the area as transport and logistics shall be made better.

The now Cagaluan National Road is a bypass road connecting the Tabuk-Bontoc National Road and the Kalinga-Abra National Road.

Said road serves as a faster route for people, goods and services to and from the City of Tabuk, Municipalities of Pasil and Balbalan and the Province of Abra.

Through the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, the road was converted into national highway by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in June 2022.

Delighted with the promulgation, Malannag said that the road network will be enhanced by the DPWH which shall take over the responsibility of improvement, maintenance and repair.

With the road’s continues improvement, travel time will be reduced and inter-provincial linkages strengthened, contributing to the development of the community.

Meanwhile, Mangaoang said the conversion secures the economic sustainability in Kalinga province since said road is vital route for logistics.

The Cagaluan Bypass Road is among the six local roads converted into national roads with the efforts of the lawmaker.

Other converted roads are Abra-Kalinga-Apayao Road from Aciga, Pinukpuk-Tawang-Buaya-Mabaca, Balbalan Section; Kalinga-Apayao Road from Catabbogan-Daga-Puguin Bypass Road; Tabuk-Banaue via Tanudan-Barlig Junction Se-et-Taloctoc-Mangali Road; Mt. Province-Isabela Road; and Apayao-Kalinga-Abra Road.
