Medical doctors needed in Benguet General Hospital

Updated: Oct 1, 2021

Benguet, Philippines – Governor Melchor Diclas informed on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, that the Benguet General Hospital is looking for physician applicants for the eight vacancies in the province’s biggest hospital.

Diclas said they are yet to receive applications to fill said positions.

In a report of Mountain Province Broadcasting Corporation, Diclas disclosed that their doctors did not renew their contract since they have to attend trainings required for medical practitioners to continue practicing their profession, which resulted in the vacancy of said positions.

The provincial government is eyeing for those coming from the province who recently took their medical board exams and now waiting for the results as prospect applicants since they could help the BeGH in treating COVID-19 patients.

As the hospital lacks manpower, BeGH has limited its operation awaiting the recovery of its 18 doctors infected with the COVID-19 virus.

"Pati iyong mga health workers natin natamaan na sila, may mga positive na. Sa Benguet General Hospital may 18 na tayong positive cases," Diclas informed during a televised public briefing Monday, September 27.

Benguet hospitals, he said, are now at a critical level and isolation facilities have already reached maximum capacity.

"Ang mga isolation facility po natin sa Benguet punung-puno na po, tapos hospitals po natin nasa critical level, punung-puno na po ang hospital natin na kung minsan nagkukulang na tayo sa oxygen," Diclas said.

As recalled, Benguet started seeing a surge of COVID-19 cases after the presence of the more transmissible Delta variant was detected in the province.

At present, there are 3, 222 active COVID-19 cases in the province based on data provided by PIO Benguet.
