Minimum daily wage increase in CAR takes effect June 14

Updated: May 29, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Starting June 14, 2022, all provinces in Cordillera shall have a minimum daily wage of P380, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board announced on Friday, May 27.

Baguio City, La Trinidad, and Tabuk City with existing P350 daily wage will impose a P30 increase, while other areas with a P340 rate will have an additional P40. This is for the first tranche of the newly approved wage hike in the region.

The second tranche, which will add P20 more to the P380 daily wage, will be made effective by January 1, 2023.

The new minimum wage rates were made effective through Wage Order No. CAR-21 for the workers in the private sector and Wage Order CAR-DW-04 for domestic workers in Cordillera.

According to RTWPB, the new wage order shall apply to all minimum wage earners in the private sector within the region, regardless of their position, designation, or status and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid.

“Starting June 14, 2022, domestic workers in the Cordillera Region shall be receiving a uniform monthly rate of P4,500,” added the wage and productivity board.
