Minimum earners in Cagayan Valley get pay hike

Cagayan Valley, Philippines – Minimal earners in Cagayan Valley will get to enjoy an early Christmas gift with the approval of their wage hike.

National Wages and Productivity Board on Tuesday approved a wage increase in said region or those in the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.

After a motu proprio hearing by the regional wage boards, a P30 increase in the daily wage of private sector workers in Cagayan Valley was approved.

The hike will be divided into two equal tranches. The initial P15 per day increment will take effect on Oct. 16, 2023, while the second tranche will be implemented on April 1, 2024.

This would bring the daily minimum wage rate in the region to P450 for non-agricultural establishments and P430 for agricultural establishments.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards of Cagayan Valley also issued an order, adding a P500 increase in the daily wages of domestic workers, which would bring their monthly wage to P5,500.

Minimum wage earners in Central Luzon (Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales), and Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General) will likewise receive pay hike.
