13 and 9-yr.-old riders die in Quezon, Isabela road crash

Isabela, Philippines – Two minors riding a motorcycle were not able to reach their supposed destination after passing by a wet portion of the provincial road in Quezon, Isabela.

The rider was 13 years old while his back rider was 9. Both were residents of Sitio Talaca in Lepanto, Quezon.

Police initial investigation showed that the two were traversing the provincial road in Barangay Arellano around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 08. But as they passed by a part of the road described to be dripping with water from the irrigation canal, the motorcycle tumbled down the pavement.

This resulted in the minors getting serious head injuries.

The 13-year-old rider was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The 9-year-old, on the other hand, passed away next while being treated.

Authorities have already coordinated with the National Irrigation Administration to check on the irrigation canal that overflowed on the road.
