La Trinidad, Benguet – Japanese Mixed Martial Arts ‘legend’ Shinya Aoki is now in Benguet to train with Team Lakay, his foe in the international arena.

Aoki is a former ONE Lightweight World Champion. He is also known as the #1 pound-for-pound MMA fighter in Asia.

Aoki arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday, January 24, and went straight to Baguio City. The next morning, Team Lakay welcomed the world champion at their gym in Benguet.

“The Japanese Legend is now in Benguet to meet with Eduard "The Landslide" Folayang and the rest of the Team Lakay athletes,” Team Lakay captioned on their Facebook page.

Aoki and Folayang had faced each other thrice in ONE Lightweight event. Though they are rivals in the ONE circle, Aoki came to the Philippines on a personal trip to reconnect and train with Folayang and the rest of the Cordilleran martial artists at Team Lakay.
