More pregnant moms in Tinglayan to get quality care w/ new ambulance from Kalinga PLGU

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Quality care for pregnant mothers in Tinglayan will be more accessible with the new ambulance donated by the provincial government to Abundant Grace of God Maternity Center on Sept. 18, 2023.

Said clinic whose main office lies in Tabuk City has a sub-clinic in Bugnay, Tinglayan that caters to pregnant women in barangays Bugnay, Buscalan, Loccong, Butbut Proper, Ngibat, Tulgao, and Dananao.

Abundant Grace of God Maternity Center Director, Georgia Leigh Macad said that she and Tinglayan extension Director Evelyn Dungoc had to strategize last year after learning about a case of maternal death in Tulgao.

“We wanted to be a part of increasing access to lifesaving midwifery care for more pregnant mothers in Tinglayan so that similar tragedies wouldn’t be repeated,” she recounted.

From their discussion, they identified they needed to have another ambulance since the emergency vehicle stationed at the sub-clinic was not enough to accommodate other barangays. For this reason, the two directors approached Governor James Edduba who immediately responded to their request for a vehicle.

“With the provision of this ambulance we hope to increase our services and emergency transport for more mothers in the Tinglayan communities,” Macad expressed.

She further conveyed Abundant Grace of God Maternity Center is grateful to the governor and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Jocel Baac for supporting their private non-profit organization which she said signifies their honest desire to serve yKalingas.

The blessing of the new emergency vehicle was held in Bugnay on Sept. 19, 2023.
