More than 500 TUPAD beneficiaries in Balbalan receive wages for short-term job

Balbalan, Kalinga – Another batch of disadvantaged workers in Balbalan received their wages for their short-term employment during a ceremony at the KDCM Sports Center on August 27, 2024.

 

Said batch is composed of 585 workers from Balbalan who were identified as the latest recipients of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the government.

 

Of the 585, 78 are from Balantoy; 69, Poswoy; 98, Dao-angan; 79, Balbalan Proper; 68, Maling; 95 Buaya; and 98 are from Tawang.

 

These additional cash-for-work beneficiaries from Balbalan were accommodated after the Municipal Local Government Unit of Balbalan headed by Mayor Almar Malannag requested P2 million funding which was granted by the Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera led by Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra.

 

After rendering work, the 585 iBalbalans received their wage from the government. The pay-out was facilitated by DOLE – Kalinga Provincial Manager Avelina Manganip and was personally graced by Mayor Malannag who thanked the DOLE for granting their request for additional funding to cater to more displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers in Balbalan.
