Tabuk City, Kalinga – A motorcycle rider was run over by an elf after it hit a stray dog that crossed the provincial road in Barangay Appas on Sunday morning, December 19.

According to the police report, a witness who was heading towards the Bulanao direction narrated that the rider identified as Pedro Dalsen Jr.,28, overtook him along the road as they were approaching the TAMPCO Inn.

However, at approximately 20 meters away, he saw the rider hit a stray dog that dashed across the road. The witness added that the collision sent the rider crashing against an Isuzu elf that was approaching from the opposite lane.

Due to the impact, the rider was thrown off from the motorcycle and was run over by the said elf driven by a certain Marlon Flores, 41.

The statement of the witness was seconded by another person who happened to see the incident.

The rider was declared dead on arrival at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, states a report from the Tabuk City Traffic Management Unit.

Meanwhile, the police investigator observed that the motorcycle collided against the left side portion of the elf based on the point of impact and the damages on its fuel tank. Moreover, it is believed that the rider was run over due to his severe head injury.

Additionally, no one claimed who the owner of the dog was when the police inquired about it in the neighborhood.

A case of Reckless Imprudence resulting in Serious Physical Injuries and Damage to Property was endorsed at the Tabuk City Prosecution Office against the driver of the elf.
