Motorcycle taken from Guru Press staff recovered, robbers still at large

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The motorcycle that was forcibly taken from a Guru Press staff at gunpoint was recovered on Monday morning, April 18, 2022.

The staff was hijacked by two unidentified riders last April 16, 2022 in Barangay Ipil. The suspects took her motorcycle along with her cellphone, cash, ATMs, and other belongings.

A day after the incident, she was informed that a Honda XRM matching the description of her stolen motorcycle was sold to a buyer in Barangay Dupag for P15,000.

She said that they were able to communicate with the buyer and agreed to meet on April 18. On the said date, the buyer told the staff to see him at Block 3 in Bulanao, and eventually proceeded to Bulanao Police Substation to report the incident.

The motorcycle which the buyer bought for P15,000 was brought to the Bulanao Substation and it was positively identified as the motorcycle robbed from her.

The Claim of the Buyer

The buyer told the police that the motorcycle was sold to him by a man and a woman around 5:00 PM on April 17.

He said that he was traversing the road in Damsite, Bado Dangwa going towards Dupag when he stopped at the side of the road to urinate. Right then, two riders – a man and a woman, approached him to sell a motorcycle.

The buyer further claimed that he invited the sellers to Barangay Dupag to hand them the P15,000 payment. After giving the money, the two sellers left Dupag and went to Bulanao.

The buyer said that it was already too late when he learned about the carnapping incident that took place in Ipil. The information, he said, prompted him to report the incident to the police.

Identity of the sellers

The buyer alleged that it was a man who can talk in Ilocano and he was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He described him to be thin, having a dark complexion.

The buyer added that the female seller has long hair and fair skin, speaking in Tagalog. The woman is ‘chubby’ and was wearing a blue denim jacket and jeans.

A Follow-up investigation on the case is still in progress.
