Mt. Province remains Delta variant-free

Mt. Province, Philippines – Mt. Province remains as the only province in the Cordillera region that is free from the COVID-19 Delta variant as of this writing.

‘So far we have not registered a Delta in Mountain Province and we thank God for that,’ Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. said in Ilocano during the Cordillera Peace Talks 35th anniversary celebration held in Mt. Data Hotel on Monday, September 13.

Covid-19 Delta variant data of the Department of Health Cordillera as of September 5, 2021 revealed that there are already 25 cases in the region. Of these cases, 12 are recorded in Baguio, 5 each in Apayao and in Benguet and 1 each in Abra, Ifugao, and Kalinga.

However, 2 cases were added to Apayao on Monday, September 13, 2021 as relayed by the Apayao Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (PIATF).

DOH-CAR earlier clarified that the 3 Delta cases of Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) which is 2 from Abra and 1 from Baguio City, are not considered as Cordillera cases.

Lacwasan underscored that discipline among the people is a key factor in their prevention measures.

“The residents know what they are doing and they have gotten used to the protocols. They continue to observe the health protocols so that we are always ready to protect ourselves from this problem,” he said.

After the surge of cases during the first quarter, Lacwasan claimed that residents learned not to be complacent and to always protect themselves to avoid getting the virus.

Record of the Provincial Health Office also showed that most of the cases involved travelers, returning residents, and authorized persons outside residence going in and out of Mt. province.

Meantime, the province as of Tuesday, September 14 has a record of 267 Covid-19 active cases, the lowest among Cordillera provinces and its chartered city in which Baguio; in contrary has the highest with a record of 2,485
