Mt. Province State University to host for the first time CARASUC Meet on March 24-28, 2025

Bontoc, Mt. Province - The biggest sporting event for college athletes in the Cordillera, the CARASUC Meet, is set to kick off next week, with Mountain Province State University (MPSU) as the host school.


The CARASUC, or the Cordillera Association of State Universities and Colleges Meet 2025, is expected to be joined by thousands of student-athletes from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the region.


The event, which will run from March 24 - 28, is a platform for student-athletes from the various participating Cordillera SUCs to showcase their skills, foster camaraderie, and promote sportsmanship.


Additionally, the competition encourages regional unity and the development and discovery of athletic talent among the students, who may go on to represent the region in national competitions.


MPSU President Edgar G. Cue shared when he was interviewed by the media that the university is prepared to host the event.  According to him, their preparations are 90% complete as of March 21.


The university president also mentioned that this will be the first time that MPSU will serve as the host for the CARASUC Meet and that most of the games will be held within the capital town of Bontoc.


It can be recalled that last year’s CARASUC Meet was won by the Benguet State University, which was hailed as the overall champion for securing 114 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 45 bronze medals.


Placing first runner-up second was the Apayao State College (ASC) for bagging 38 golds, 46 silvers, and 52 bronze medals, while  Ifugao State University was second runner up  with 28 gold medals, 56 silver medals, and 44 bronze medals.


On the other hand,  the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology followed with 24 gold medals, 39 silver medals, and 74 bronze medals; Mountain Province State Polytechnic College with 20 gold medals, 49 silver medals, and 51 bronze medals; Kalinga State University (KSU) with 14 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals; and University of the Philippines–Baguio with 5 bronze medals.
