Mt. Province to host 35th Cordillera Anniversary

Mt. Province, Philippines – The month-long celebration of the 35th Anniversary of Cordillera Administrative Region will be hosted by Mountain Province.

Attorney Tomas Kiwang Jr., the focal person for Regional Autonomy Concerns, relayed through PTV– Cordillera that the kick-off program will be held in Sagada on July 1, 2022.

The province, he said, is prepared for the coming of all the members of Regional Development Council and elective officials from all over the region.

The anniversary celebration will be on July 15.

Culminating activities will be held by the end of said month.

Change in usual celebration

As opposed to what has been practiced during the previous years, the Cordillera Unity Gong Relay will be done only in Mountain Province.

“In the past six or seven years, we have been conducting the gong relay region-wide, wherein we go to the provinces with the unity gong. Now we will be doing in our province,” Kiwang said.

This year’s celebration will center on the theme “One Autonomous Cordillera: Ensuring Social Development and Inclusive Growth in the New Normal.”

More details on the event shall be issued by the host province and agencies.
