Nambaran, Tabuk City highlights developments since 2018


Tabuk City, Kalinga – The past four years have brought progress and developments in Barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City which ushered them some prestigious citations in the regional and national level.


Nambaran is currently under the leadership of Punong Barangay Jimmy Suwagon with his kagawads Tony Ngaya-an, Bonnie Pan-oy, Ignacio Baguiwan, Peter Bangngayon, Esteban Bayado, Cristina Galian and Nestor Binuloc.

Under the said officials’ administration, the barangay did not just focus on infrastructures but they also put emphasis on improving and sustaining the peace and order in their area.


Barangay Nambaran’s work and efforts are substantiated by various awards they received since 2018. Among these include being a nominee for the Gangsa award; Barangay Lupon Tagapamayapa awardee; recognition from the Department of Interior and Local Government for their Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council’s exemplary efforts and for being high functional; and they were cited as best Barangay Peacekeeping Action team.

Developments on infrastructures


Visible changes and improvements on infrastructures in Nambaran in the recent years include the improvement of Barangay Road from National road to Ileb Butbut; continuation and completion of the barangay hall; installation of Street lights along national road within the barangay; installation of 5 units solar pumps at Dawayan, New Site, Sitio Bangad, Sumedca and Purok Ileb; concreting of irrigation canals at Dawayan, Mananeng and Kalati; improvement and construction of water work systems and several deep wells; and the improvement of Mananeng CIS.


Various roads were also concreted and improved such as the circumferential road in Purok Bliss and the Sumedca Farm to Market Road. The Farm to Market Road in Gwabang was also opened.


The barangay also purchased a 2-hectare lot for relocation site of those affected by the road right of way.


Meantime, the projects funded and implemented through the barangay’s 20% Internal Revenue Allotment(IRA) include the improvements of the Bolislis Irrigation access road, Barangay Road at New Site; and the development of Day Care Centers in all puroks and the Junction deep wells.


Additionally, the barangay through its 20% IRA constructed Drainage Canal at Centro and Bliss and cemented the Pathways at New Site and Purok La-od. The fencing of pasture land at Kallati; the gravelling at Bulislis and Abagatan; and the barangay’s Clean and Green program were also covered by the said budget.


Peace and Order


To monitor possible crimes and to ensure the safety of the public, Barangay Nambaran strategically placed CCTV cameras at the barangay hall, Nambaran Junction and near the Nambaran Elementary School.


With the barangay council’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, there were citizen arrests that were reported in their area which signifies that the people do not tolerate these illegal substances. The barangay likewise was able to convince some drug personalities to surrender during the Tokhang program of then President Rodrigo Duterte.


The officialdom of Nambaran also focused on restoring peace pacts among the tribes within their jurisdiction.


Support of constituents


Punong Barangay Suwagon stressed that all these projects and progress in Nambaran in the past years are all because of the support and cooperation of his constituents.


“Dakkel unay nga yaman kadagiti kabaranggayan babaen kadagiti suporta da kadagiti programs tayo ta haan tayo ngay nga ma-implement nga efficient wenno usto dagidiay programs tayo nu awan iti support iti bumarangay. Dakkel unay iti epekto nu didiay umili ket suportaran da dagidiay programs,” he conveyed.
