Nambaran Tulgao tribe eyes restoration of Bodong with two other tribes by April

Updated: Mar 4, 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following the restoration of their peace pact with Uma, Lubuagan, the Tulgao tribe in Nambaran is set to reinstate their Bodong with two more tribes before the end of April this year.

These tribes include Limos in Pinukpuk and Poswoy in Balbalan.

According to Nambaran Punong Barangay, Jimmy Suwagon, their Bodong with Limos was broken in 2016. This is after a member of the latter was shot in Mapaoay.

Tulgao’s peace pact with Poswoy, on the other hand, was severed in early 2000 after a member of their tribe was among the suspects in a murder case involving the Poswoy.

Before his term as the Punong Barangay of Nambaran ends, Suwagon conveyed his administration wanted to settle their Bodong with other tribes. He acknowledged that severed peace pacts have a huge effect on the peace and order of a community.

“Siguro iti rason ket sigun idiay kapadasan mi gamin ket isu talaga iti mangted iti riribuk. Awan iti peace, apektaran na amin iti activity iti tribo [nu napugsat iti Bodong],” he conveyed.

Last month, the peace pact between the Tulgao tribe and Uma, Lubuagan was restored. This is a year since the brawl that caused the severance of their Bodong.
