NBI District Office to be established in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga—The establishment of a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) District Office in the province is being sought to serve Kalinga, Apayao, and Abra.

NBI-Region 2 Director Gelacio Bongngat recommended this during the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) awarding of Conditional Matching Grant to Province (CMGP) held simultaneously with the 34th Cordillera Day celebration on July 15, 2021. “The advantage of having a district office for the province is that we already have yKalinga NBI agents, even CPA lawyers in different regions that we can call to serve. In this 34th founding Anniversary, I have high hopes that this time we will pursue to have this government agency in our own region,” Bongngat said.

Meanwhile, through his official Facebook page, Governor Ferdinand Tubban supported the proposal of putting up a new building for the bureau. He stated that a lot donation from Kalinga PLGU is being considered.

“We had a good discussion with NBI Region 2 Director Atty. Gelatio Bonggat regarding the lot donation of Kalinga PLGU to the NBI tapno addan ton ti NBI district office ditoy Kalinga a mangserbisyo ti Kalinga, Apayao ken Abra,” the governor said.

Gov. Tubban also said that a lot donation had been proposed previously but was delayed due to unexpected circumstances. The office is being eyed to be established at the Capitol Compound, given the chance that it will push through.

“Ti lot of donation nabayag a naiyaramid ngem natantan ti pannaka-iyaramid na. Nu maisayangkat daytoy, ti NBI district office ket addan to ditoy Capitol compound,” Tubban said.

It can be recalled that through the initiative of Tubban during his term as a mayor of Tabuk, a proposed NBI Satellite Office shall be established in the city. In 2020, the NBI Satellite Office was opened through NBI Cagayan Valley Regional Office 2 at the People’s Gymnasium in Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City.
