Updated: Sep 9, 2023

Baguio City, Philippines – A wedding cake that can feed at least eight barangays in Baguio City was exhibited over the weekend at SM Baguio Atrium.

The massive dessert made for the 16th edition of the Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) weekend in Baguio was nearly 40 feet tall. Its base was measured 24 feet by 18 feet; 18 by 14 for its second layer; and 14 by 10 for the third.

Apart from its huge size, another notable feature of the cake is its different flavors which include red velvet, chocolate truffle, banana, carrot, and blueberry vanilla.

Behind this giant dessert were 25 professional pastry chefs and 40 students, according to Baguio City Public Information Office.

It was further disclosed that these pastry experts and students used 450 sacks of flour, 32,000 eggs, 20,000 bananas, 600 kilograms of carrots, and 300 kilos of dark and white chocolates.

On September 02, the cake was cut into 12,000 slices just in time for the exchange of vows of 11 couples in a mass wedding ceremony during the 114th Baguio Day Anniversary celebration.

The wedding was officiated by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and the unveiling of the massive dessert was led by US Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Marykay Carlson.
