New KPH Operating and Delivery Room Complex brings medical surgical services closer to yKalingas

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Surgical medical services are now closer to the people of Kalinga, including neighboring the provinces in the region and Region 2 with the newly opened Operating Room and Delivery Room (OR-DR) Complex of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

The inauguration of the P77.2 million facility held on November 16 was led by DPWH-Cordillera Regional Director, Engr. Khadaffy B. Tanggol along with Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang and Governor Ferdinand Tubban.

Also present during the event are Officer in Charge of Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office, Engr. Ruby Uyam, and Chief of KPH, Dr. Marilyn B. Tubban-Duyan, and other officials.

According to Uyam, the OR-DR Complex is part of the national administration’s Build Build Build program and was funded under General Appropriations Act (GAA) CY 2018 through the initiative of Kalinga Lone District Representative Mangaoang.

The construction of the project started on September 12, 2019, and was completed on April 18, 2021.

The three-story facility is equipped with 44 beds, 28 of which are in Free Ward and 16 are in Private Ward.

Uyam said the OR-DR “will improve and accelerate the quality of health care of the Kalinga people by enhancing health facilities of KPH.”

Dr. Duyan, on the other hand, said the facility is another milestone in pursuit of quality hospital services to the people.

“The construction of the OR-DR Complex is an impact project aimed to enhance the level of capability of the hospital and this is aligned with the priority trust of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang to turn this hospital into a regional medical center of the North,” the Chief of KPH stated.

She added that the facility will ease the burden of patients from travelling outside the province to seek surgical procedures.

The KPH Chief acknowledged the need for equipment for the complex to be able to be operational to the fullest but expressed confidence in achieving the goal as Congressman Mangaoang and the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Tubban have been supportive to KPH.

Dr. Duyan also lauded “the tireless efforts of everyone who, in one way or another, has contributed to the successful completion of this project.”
