New Tanudan town hall in Kalinga inaugurated

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Tanudan, Kalinga – Key departments of Tanudan municipal government will now be transferring to the new town hall following the blessing and inauguration led by National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Secretary Lope Santos III on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Said event held at Sitio Banagao, Poblacion coincided with the municipality’s 60th Founding Anniversary and 8th Kape Festival celebration, marking another significant milestone in Tanudan history.

Municipal Engineer Mike Tongnawa earlier disclosed the previous administration started the construction of the town hall in 2015 with P12 million in funding from the annual 20% municipal fund that covered the foundation of the building, which included excavation, building of posts, and beams among others.

When Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag was elected in 2019, his administration allotted P6 million for the roofing, installation of hollow blocks, remakes, and others.

If they kept resorting to the 20% municipal fund, it will take them until 2030 to finish the building, said Tongnawa.

Determined to provide better services to the people of Tanudan, the local government allocated P14,901,365.09 from its approved P50 million Development Project loan.

Initially, P20 million was set aside for said purpose but they saved P5,098,634.91 for Banagao access road, linking the area to the national road.

The P14.9 million fund covered the flooring, plastering, ceiling, plumbing, flagpole, restrooms, and other building parts.

After years of hurdling challenges, the two-story building was finally completed, providing yTanudans access to efficient services of the programs and projects of the municipal government.

In a statement, the mayor expressed delight over the completion of the municipal hall. This, he said, will house the increasing number of employees of Tanudan LGU. They will no longer have to stay at the sub-office in Mabaca which was designed to be an evacuation center.

“Awan ti rason nga haan nga agisem ti empleyado ta makatrabaho dan nga ustu. Mai-provide tayun pay ti quality service kadagitoy constituents tayo ta makisabay tayo ti digitalization ken syempre, adda tayo ti high-tech era so gumatang tayo metlang ti kasapulan nga technologies,” Dagadag added.
